How does Hug or Shrug work?
You react to listings, which are everyday things such as foods, brands, places, films and experiences. Each reaction is saved to your taste profile. Listings are grouped into categories: Brands, Food & Drink, Places, Things, People, Entertainment, Experiences, Lifestyle, General.
What do Hug and Shrug mean?
Hug means you like something. Shrug means it is not for you. There are three other reactions: Want to Try (i want to try this), Never Tried (i have never tried this), Don’t Know (i do not know what this is or enough about it to vote yet).
What is a taste profile?
Your taste profile is the collection of everything you have reacted to: what you Hug, what you Shrug, what you want to try and what you have never tried. It grows with every reaction.
How does taste matching work?
Hug or Shrug compares the reactions you share with another member. Agreeing on the same thing (both Hug, both Shrug, or both want to try it) raises your compatibility. Opposite reactions lower it. Matches become more reliable as you both react to more of the same listings.
How do I find people with similar interests?
Create an account and keep reacting. Once you have enough reactions in common with other members, Hug or Shrug suggests people whose taste overlaps with yours.
How are public opinion percentages calculated?
Each percentage is the share of all reactions a listing has received. For example, the Hug percentage is the number of Hug reactions divided by the total number of reactions. Percentages are only shown once a listing has at least 10 reactions. Below that, the listing says there are not enough votes yet.
Who can see my reactions?
You choose the visibility of your reactions and your profile. Reactions can be public, limited to friends or followers, private, or counted only in anonymous totals. Profiles can be public, friends-only or private. Member profiles are not submitted to search engines.
How do I add something to Hug or Shrug?
Signed-in members can add a listing with a title, category and optional photo and description. New listings are reviewed before they appear publicly,.
